So yeah, The Day the Earth Stood Still, not a bad movie but not as cool as the original. Keanu has become the world foremost expert on emotionless acting. That just seems to be all he does now. I miss the Bill and Ted days and the My Own Private Idaho days and even the Point Break/Speed days.
John Cleese makes a small appearance in the movie and is, as always, amazing as is Kathy Bates and Jennifer Connelly.
The effects are cool and I like the concept of how the world would be destroyed. I like that they created an acronym for what GORT stood for.
Huge call out goes to my man James Hong! You may not know him by name but you know him. He was in Big Trouble in Little China and Balls of Fury. Anytime a movie calls for a cool Chinese actor he is your man. I love seeing him in anything. His 5 minutes made the movie worth it!
Overall, good movie. See it in the theater. In IMAX if you can. It's worth the $$$ to get the full experience.
