Home again, home again gigity jog. It's amazing home much you can fit in to 4 days. Wednesday I boarded the plane from Charlotte to Chicago to go see my Katie Chloe. I landed. She picked me up and off we went to Milwaukee which of course is Algonquin for "the good land". (Side note, I recently found out that Chicago is Potowaname for "little smelly onion".) So Wed night we went to Sarah and Jeremy's and met Lylah, their 18 week old baby girl (precious), to the Brewers game (CC Sebathia!) and then made a mess on our friends sheets. Oops, that was our bad.
Thursday morning we got up. I washed the sheets and mattress pad (yeah it was like that) and headed off to breakfast with Sarah, then to the Harley-Davidson museum. Amazing! Motorcycles through history. It was like Sherman and Peabody set the way-back machine for the year super fucking cool! Had lunch at the museum, went underwear shopping at the mall and coat shopping at REI, back to S&J's where all 5 of us headed back to Miller Park for Brewer game #2. After the game went drove to Chicago to check into our hotel, made an even bigger mess on their sheets and passed out.
Friday came along as did breakfast in bed until we had to check out. I interviewed for a job back in Chicago that if offered I am not taking right now. It's just not the right time. We had drinks with Kate's parentals and then headed to our hotel downtown. We checked in just long enough to leave and get on the blue line to Jackson and then the red line to 35th street for our 3 baseball game in 3 days. My beloved White Sox lost but they kept me in my seat threatening to come back. Disappointed we rode the trains back to the hotel and started making a mess in yet another bed when Kate got light headed. She had taken her puffer when we got back to the room and her little heart was beating like mad so we cut things short...
...or should I say postponed things until Saturday morning. (No sheets are safe from us.) After some mess making and a bologna, egg and cheese sandwich we headed to Kayak Chicago for the 5 mile Architectural Tour. Seeing the Chicago skyline from such a small place is really overwhelming. It was the beautiful. We ate lunch at Brandys in Oak Park. (highly recommend.) and Kate dropped me off at O'hare. We planned to spend more time together but all hell broke loose at her work and she had to go. (Oh, Build-a-Bear I can't stay mad at you.)
Along the way we talked a lot about me and her and us and where it all fit in. I'm staying with the IKEA job. I'm super excited about the opportunity and think it is the best long term plan for both of us or should I say all 4 of us. (Kate has two of the most amazing daughters.) So I'm staying in Charlotte for the time being but like the song says "I'll be working my way back to you babe." Hey if anyone from IKEA is reading this, a store in Milwaukee would be awesome!
