Booyah! Yesterday was amazing! I got the call from IKEA. I'm super stoked! I'm gonna be the "Shopkeeper" for kids furniture. Amazing! I know what you're thinking. Yes, I am a retail lifer. It wasn't my chosen profession (I went to school for advertising) but it's the profession that chose me. So what better place to continue my career pushing America's obsessive need for consumer dominance than a 400,000 sq ft monument to inexpensive home furnishings. Woo hoo! The irony of it all is that Fight Club is one of my favorite books/movies and now I will become an IKEA boy. It's funny how many songs have been written about IKEA. Really, look it up.
I also got a call from Starbucks yesterday for a phone interview this morning AND a call from my buddy Todd's boss at Homemade Pizza in Chicago about an interview on Friday while I'm there. I'm crazy loopy about the IKEA gig so it's gonna take a lot to steer me in another direction but how can I make an informed choice without all the information. Thank God. I can finally turn off all the job search emails I've been getting. I am so done with job hunting. I feel kinda bad about leaving the Creative Playthings job after being there only a month but then again they shouldn't have low balled me. Seriously, fuck 'em.
