So for my first ever blog homework, I'm writing about my favorite place I've traveled to, this has to be, without a doubt, Colorado. I've only been twice and both visits were not long or fulfilling enough for me. The first time I was in Colorado was entirely on a whim. My boyfriend at the time wanted to roadtrip and see Phish play for three days in Commerce City, just outside of Denver. At this point in my life I had never seen Phish, or really had much interest in seeing them either, but I was itching to go to Colorado. We drove more than 30 hours. 30 hours stuck in a car with 3 hippie men, age range of 18-40 something, driving through SO many endless cornfields. When we finally arrived I felt like I was home, it was this crazy feeling I hadn't felt before - not even in my own home town. I just felt like I belonged there. This was my first Phish and festival (like) experience, I didn't get to explore much while we were there as we mostly stayed to the venue and camping grounds, but those mountains. Those mountains have called me back and continue to call to me. The second time, I flew to Colorado. My friend moved there when she was pregnant and I was to be the God mother. The little nugget couldn't wait for me to get there and popped out a few days early. Unfortunately, my exploring was cut short again this time because her mother was put into the hospital for having a couple of strokes (3 within only a few days.) Our time was spent traveling from her different family members houses and the hospital, and taking care of mama and baby Stetson. I was honestly okay with this because I hadn't seen Regys in 6 months at this point and holding that baby was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I've held babies before, don't get me wrong, but this was my God son. All the traveling I got to do on that trip put me right in the mountains, so close I was literally touching them. I saw where the Earth had been scorched from the wildfires that almost wiped Colorado out. I saw the Colorado sunrise. I'll never forget that trip, I'll never forget either trip. How I long to go back!
