I have a theory that states that you can go back in time, but when you go forward in time you cannot return to your original chronological reality.
So if you want to reinvent yourself at an earlier date the only way is to travel back in time, kill yourself in the past and then live your life again retaining all of the knowledge you have gained from the future that you have come from.
The only problem with this is that under no time travel philosophies do they consider the potential physical ramifications of adding more matter and energy to a universe even if it is just a branch universe off of the past.
