mmmmm coffee. brewed in a press and poured in a glass beer mug for quantitive consumption.
the other day i had lunch a dear friend and his son. we met the october after nine eleven. we were both at a crossroads, in our paths. a beginning of sorts. the time was a beginning of a new chapter at the close of the last. we have both come a long way. we have taken a few too many hits for progress with moments of foundering and survival. however we are both still upon the path of life for all the wavers and strays.
the beginning, three years ago, was frought with much derision and acrimonous bullshit. there was many with self serving agendas, preachy egos and self righteous fools. we have left the initial individuals behind for the most part only to rediscover that there are more, as many as there are people in the world.
the fight never stops but it changes and evolves as we develop the tools to address situations better. we have refined the responses as the incidences that repeat themselves with current connotations. looking back it is as if it was a re birth filled with harsh labor and tenuous moments of fear and failure.
we're a long way from the gold ring and the happy ending but we are still fighting for what the future holds. even when we disagree we have to agree we are both still here. i'm thankful for that and that we have shared some of what has made us stronger. you can't put a price on a connection like that.
