I'm surprised that there's been no mention of this story on the Current Events forum/SG News Wire.
Wait. On second thought, I'm not surprised at all, seeing as it involves neither Bushitler blubbery, nor FearTheReaper hawking his Stephen Colbert understudy schtick.
I suppose one way; the Blame America First way, of reacting to these allegations of fraud is to ask yourself, "What was FEMA thinking, haphazardly distributing aid the way they did? They brought this debacle upon themselves. This is CLEARLY Bush's fault!!*"
As abhorrent as I find American socialism (eat dicks and die, New Deal*), I think that the good outweighed the bad in this situation. The lower class of New Orleans and surrounding environs had been reduced to third world living conditions by the ravages of Hurricane Katrina, and regardless of political infighting or procedural bickering, they're Americans first, and we have a way of looking out for our own (Cue moonbat response: "BUT FEMA WERE MURDERING BLACK PEOPLE AND BLOWING UP LEVYS, ARRRRRRRRRGH!"*). Immediate action was required on the part of the federal government, and immediate action was taken, in the form of thousands upon thousands of prepaid, government-issued credit cards. It would be unfair to claim that the majority of aid recipiants committed fraud.
The question is, in what manner should these slimeball hucksters be dealt with? Jailing them would be counterproductive; these assholes have cost us enough money as it is, and our criminal justice system has mutated into nothing less than a network of boarding schools for opportunistic scumbags. If it were up to
me, I'd round all of them up at gunpoint and bus them into the tent cities of Louisiana, where these lowlifes would perform mandatory community service, whilst working off their unauthorized charges at minimum wage.
Nothing like building houses for $7 an hour beneath the burning southern sun for the next several years to make you wish you hadn't billed Uncle Sam for that three-day-vacay in Caracas!
