So I just had my first appointment with a Bariatric surgeon for lapband surgery. I had no idea what to expect. Man were they thorough. First I met with the financial advisor, second the medical assistant, third I met the surgeon and fourth I met the dietitian. They all went through their facts that I should know that I probably won't remember, but I have the paperwork to help.
Not having any preconceived notion about how the process would work I thought I would be getting the surgery within a couple weeks. No! They want records and tests and tests of tests to make double sure I'm absolutely qualified to go through with this life changing procedure.
I have never been of average weight or thin, so I don't know what it's like. For them to tell me that by doing this and sticking to the plan I will be thin it was very hard for me to accept. I can only imagine right now what it's going to be like.
For the next three months I need to prove I can maintain a diet and show a loss. I have to preform some tests to make sure everyting is ok inside my stomach. Once three months has past and insurance approves its time to change the rest of my life.
