Vacation still on the brain... Although Chicago is beautiful this time of year, I need a break. Somewhere far away where my cell phone doesn't work and absolutely nothing reminds me of home. As I rumage for more ideas, I present to you a few pictures of Cambodia. I found the people there to be hungry, not for food, but for knowledge and opportunity. They strive to do as much as they possibly can, despite their disadvantages (almost a complete lack of infrastructure, for example currency was outlawed from 1975-1993 so they are just starting to rebuilding the financial system) and gave me a real appreciation for what I have.
This is a picture of Angkor Wat, an absolutely stunning and well preserved temple/city ruin. The temple and surrounding buildings are on a massive scale, covering miles and miles of country. I highly recommend seeing it if you ever get the chance.
This pic gives you an idea of the natural environment. It made me want to grab a book, stretch out and just take it all in for hours at a time, which I did to some extent.
Here are some Cambodian girls. They spoke really good English and were selling postcards and a bunch of other cheap crap. Of course I bought some anyway, and as a free gift, the girl gave me a hand-drawn map she had made. It was the sweetest thing, even if only an attempt to get me to give her more money (which of course I did )
Til next time...

The J-pop I'm into is really more in the pop spectrum of things, though...Brilliant Green and The Pillows are way more J-Rock. And I am a huge J-Rap and K-Rap freak, so expect some more m-flo, Heartsdales, Ketsumeishi, that kind of thing (not to mention on the K side some YG Family and DJ Doc).
