Well, I got home a little while ago after meeting with my District Manager about the whole Store Manager thing.
Apparently, I'm walking into a $30,000 a year job. ! I didn't realize that you could make that much money from a retail position, haha! I'll be doing about $580 a week, before taxes, which is amazing... I'm doing around $330 right now before taxes, so it's more than two hundred dollars a week more than I'm doing now. I was nervous, although excited, before I met with him about taking the job. Now I'm even more excited. I hate relying on money, though, and I feel dirty being so excited about making money. At least I know that I'll be spending it on sensible things, which is always a good time. Student loans, bills, a new bike... and maybe a new DVD player.
I want to get one of these bad boys. A DVD player with a hard drive built in - it acts as TiVO, basically. Its memory records the last six hours of TV watched, so you can rewind back up to six hours if you missed something. You can also record right to the hard drive, then burn directly to a DVD. It's a nerdgasm waiting to happen.
And shit, it's super cheap on Amazon... it goes for around $300 retail, and I could get a refurbished one for around $165. Gah... resist buying now!
I also found out that the $500 check for the competition I won a few weeks ago is being mailed out this week. I'll be getting that soon enough, then, and that's pretty excellent. Unfortunately, they're not actually sending me a hard copy of the software I won. I just download it and activate it. That sucks because it's stupid yearbook creation software that I don't care about and wanted to sell off because it goes for $500. Lame.
I just decided to apply for forebearance on my private student loans. That means that I don't have to start paying on them until January of '08, although interest will acrue during that time. I just don't make enough right now to pay them (they want $660 a month), but in a few months I should be able to work on it a little better with my increased income. Stupid expensive school.
I guess that's about it. Cleaning, laundry, and whatever else today. Woooooooooooooooooo!
PS, feel better, Boss!
