Its been almost a year since I graduated from graduate school. It's been weird to not have to worry about grades, finishing projects on time, and staying up all night to make sure everything gets done on time. But what I also realized is that I haven't made any clothes since I finished school which is weird because I've pretty much sewn everyday for 4 yrs up until last june. At school I could walk to the fashion building cut some fabric and go to town. But now I work almost 50 hrs a week & finishing my thesis on the weekends when I'm not avoiding it, so there isn't much time for me to sew. I haven't even sketched anything since I graduated, I bought a fresh new book to fill up, but then I got a little sad because until I buy a sewing machine its just t pictures in a book and not real clothes.
I work right next the fashion building for Parson's in manhattan and I always see the fashion kids running around with bolts of fabric and there is this little smile that comes over face when i see them because I remember being that kid not that long along... I just wanna get lost in a fabric store, buy whatever I want and then go home and make something kick ass. My goal to get done before my birthday is to save up some money to buy a bad ass sewing machine. There is just something about making something with own hands that I miss so much.
these are just some of the stuff i made for my thesis collection. Everything is convertible in some way.
the green dress, there are straps underneath that can be snapped on anywhere on the bodice so the skirt can worn in a couple different ways. The blue one has snaps all over the skirt so you could pretty much snap the skirt to look any way want and the collar can be snapped in a couple different ways. The white dress just has snaps along the hem. And the blue shirt has snaps just on the hem as well. All the fabric that I used was some form of felted wool, wool blend & boiled wool.

Making clothes isn't that much more difficult than making handbags. All you need is a good pattern book to get your basic pattern pieces and you'll have a whole new wardrobe in no time. I made a few handbags too I always thought they were a little harder because you're with less space and sometimes harder to work with fabric.
