IT'S A VERY SAD DAY FOR LOCA
On Saturday I was at a party with my camera in hand, as usual. While I was standing in the hallway, somebody ran into me and spilled a rum & coke all over me and ALL OVER MY CAMERA
I immediately asked the host for some rubbing alcohol and wiped off my camera as best I could, took the batteries out and then left the zoom lens extended, hoping that would dry out any condensation. The lens went foggy and I couldn't see a thing. I let it dry for 24 hours - the foggy lens cleared up. I then put the batteries back in and everything seemed fine... until yesterday.
I went out walking around downtown Chicago last night to take pictures of all the pretty holiday decorations and lights. I turn on my camera... and... nothing. Nothing but it making a horrible noise as if it wanted to open but couldn't. Some of that sticky drink probably made its way into the inner workings and ruined it. I am so depressed. I cannot afford to get a new camera right now. So, no more pictures from me for awhile. Man, I am depressed.

That sucks, I'm sorry to hear it. I'll hold out hope, though, that a camera shop or some as-yet-undiscovered talented person will be able to disassemble it and do a proper cleaning (a cam-enema, if you will). That it's making the grinding/trying noises is a good thing, that means that the sticky/gooey wetness did not damage the circuitry inside.
