Went to see the Suicide Girls Burlesque show on Friday night here in Chicago and it was awesome! All the girls were great, but my personal favorite was the girl who came out dressed as Hunter S. Thompson, who then turned into a fuzzy bunny and then into a pretty-much-naked fuzzy bunny.
Missed the first opening band (which I heard was not my loss), but the 2nd band, a girl trio from Japan called Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re absolutely ROCKED! They were so adorable and unique - great musicians - great voices - sang everything in Japanese and were like a cross between Shonen Knife and Black Sabbath! WooHoooHooo! Bought both their CDs and chatted with them as much as I could with their limited English. They are all self-taught and AMAZING!
Hung out with Fractal behind the merch table for a little while, who is an absolute doll!!! For a girl with an 'everybody fuck off' attitude, she was hella sweet and really funny. Viva la ROFO, indeed!
I have a wedding to go to manana. I am going with the X who called and asked me to be his date The bride and groom are both close friends of ours who we used to hang with as a couple, so this should be interesting. I still have to figure out what I'm wearing and finish wrapping their gift... which I should go do now. Also, I somehow have to finish an article and a story for Monday... I have no friggin' clue how I'm going to do that. Ceremony's at 3pm. Maybe when I get home, although I'll be crocked on champagne, I'm sure. Sometimes drunken writing works for me, and sometimes I look at it the next day and go "Huh?"
I slept til 6pm today... uhhh.. I mean yesterday, Saturday. Got NOTHING done but did watch a GREAT movie, The Final Cut, with Robin Williams. RENT IT!!! It's GREAT. First time writer/director, Omar Niar (sp?), is BRILLIANT! There's so many layers of subtext in this film and it's beautifully shot (since it was such a fine script, he ended up getting his idols for DP and Chief Editor). The set design is beautifully surreal and the score is exceptional.
OK, well I better go wrap my friends' wedding present and figure out what the hell I'm gonna wear since it's 2am here. The X better not think he's gonna latch onto my gift for them, as if we gave it to them as a couple. Gift-buying was always my job. Mwahahahahaha! Not anymore
