JOYFUL, LOVING GOODBYE TO A LEGEND
Julia Child passed away today, just two days short of her 92nd birthday.
This unmistakable 6'2" torch of vitality, and former spy, served as the entryway for most Americans, of any gender, into the world of cuisine, and was also the inspiration and the key for many women into the food industry.
Spending this afternoon watching retrospectives and letting her go along with the rest of the nation made me realize how much of an inspiration she was, even in a quiet way, to me persoinally.
Years ago, when asked what she would want her last meal to be, she answered an excellent cut of red meat and a bottle of gin, perfectly prepared, of course.
As a modern girl and a vegetarian, I cannot fully enjoy her sentiment, but tonite with my dinner I raise a very dry, San Francisco style martini to her tribute, salute her indellible mark on the American landscape, and give thanks for all the years we were able to enjoy her influence as she thrived.
Goodbye and thank you, Julia!

That is sad, though I, too, thought she'd given up the ghost awhile ago. Ah, say goodnight to another legend...
