Re-reading The Raw Shark Texts. I think Clio and Eric are just as good a tragic couple as Henry and Claire from The Time Traveler's Wife.
If you haven't read the Time Traveler's Wife yet, go to the bookstore, buy it, love it. Pick up The Raw Shark Texts while you're at it. It starts off odd (Yes, he is being chased by a shark that is made of thoughts, images, and words culled from the people it's killed), but turns into a fantastic love story with a wonderfully imaginative ending.
I also finished Company by Max Barry for the 2nd time. Wonderfully hilarious corporate satire. Anyone who has worked in an office or a cubicle farm will find something to love about this book.
One of these weekends I'm going to take a day off to finish Only Revolutions by Mark Z. Danielwski. It's a super-pretentious read that at first was original and inventive, but after almost a year of not being able to finish it I think it's just a pain in the ass.
I do plan on buying Frank O'Connor's collected stories, Fires by Nick Antosca, a whole host of books by Ron Carlson and a dozen other books I can't even think of.
I will end with this, from The Raw Shark Texts:
Here's a secret: Just knowing she's alive and in the world makes me ache.
