So! I finally came to a decision about what to do with finishing my hair. If you haven't been at all following my current hair color escapade, two nights ago? Three nights ago? A few nights ago, I attempted to dye my light purple hair.
Upon bleaching it, the roots became a sort of bright yellow and the portions that had already been bleached incredibly light blonde are now almost white while some of the remaining lavender is now a soft, light pink. That wasn't the plan though.
As it turns out, I have a second packet of bleach and this time around I've actually allowed for a break between bleaching jobs, which is something that I should have been doing much more often in the past as my hair got really stressed out when I last did three back to back bleachings.
So anyway, I'm about to go ahead and bleach it one more time to try and get as much more of the pink out of it as possible. The major issue was that there just wasn't enough bleach to cover all of my hair. That's almost always the case with any dying kit because my hair always ends up being too thick or too long or both.
So at first, I though that I could kill two birds with one stone in that because I have an unused bottle of hot pink identical to the pink that's in my hair right now, that I could add a quarter or even a half of the pink bottle to the ruby red that I'm intending for the final result.
My theory was that by creating a base from the same color that I have going on already was that I could effectively dye it red while successfully going over the preexisting color so that everything comes out as the exact same color and shade and vibrancy and intensity.
However after talking to my fiance who is a really skilled artist, though it's not his profession or anything, and he let me know that it would end up coming out magenta instead of ruby, I finally realized that there was just no possible way to do something to the dye that would increase the amount except for adding to it with the pink, which would create magenta - which was not acceptable by my standards since I want to go deep strawberry red.
And so in the end here, I just ended up having to go out and buy a second container of Splat Lucious Raspberries.
Here's a final explanation in the version of a pictorial. So, let's start with the dye that I'm going to be using after I first finish using one more packet of bleach...
Now, here's how it looked when I started before having done anything to it at all this time around...
And after the initial bleach job that I just did a few days ago, it's now looking like this...
Neat, eh? And yes, it's definitely very tempting to consider allowing it to remain that way or to do something entirely different like Harley Quinn hair or something instead, but no, maybe next time. So I'm about to do my second bleaching right now. It will likely look something like this, which was how my hair looked before the very first image, many months ago back last year...
And here is how I'm hoping it will look like at the end in a few hours, later today, I presume...
We'll see anyway!!!
