September 23rd to 30th is ALA's Banned Books Week this year. Go check out the site for more info. Do me and our civil liberties a favor and go out to your local library and pick up one of the banned or frequently challenged books. Read it. Love it, or hate it. But READ IT, and let everyone else have the right to read it and love it or hate it in return.
Perhaps you could pick up "Forever" by Judy Blume, or "The Catcher in the Rye," by JD Salinger...both of which were rather high on last year's list of most challenged books.
Or maybe "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," "Of Mice and Men," or any of the Harry Potter books...numbers 3, 5, 6, and 7 respectively on the list of Most Challenged Books between 1990 and 2000.

I also have nerdy library questions to ask you, as a Dewey Decimal novice.
