I am beside myself.
I took my computer in to be fixed. Instead of going to Best Buy or Staples I tried to go local to support the community and small business.
I find a place near work I call, and I bring the computer. All goes well they fix it, the cost was double what I thought it was going to be (they never called with a quote, just fixed it) and give them my credit card number. You see they dont' have a credit card machine so they write down all the information.
The entire time I am professional, I am polite, I am nice.
Fast forward to me not checking my phone for a few days and a week later. I have a call from the company letting me know they forgot to write down the security code. Actually I should say I had a call, I had 6 calls, and 6 messages. The final message which I just received today, said that if they didn't get the security code by end of today they were going to call the cops for theft of services.
I called them back, got voicemail and let them have it.
1. It is the summer people take vacations, give people time to call you back. People might not be able to call you back immediately (and calling everyday just continues to show that they aren't even giving me time to call them back)
2. Do your job correctly. Quite frankly it isn't my problem that you couldn't do things right.
I called them rude and unprofessional and I gave them the code.
Yet I still find myself freaking out, because although I did give them the code, I was yelling into the phone with the above (I did though also say I am going to give you my code now so get a pen or pencil) and ended it with a learn to do your job and have a nice night.
Why I am still freaked? Cause this bitch could get pissed at me for leaving such a message and still go to the police. I don't even know what would happen for theft of services.
But also wouldnt' the fact that I gave them my credit card and it is written down in their handwriting show that I was not trying to steal their services? I didn't give them a fraudlent card, or name or address. They fucked up.
I normally am not so rude to people but this woman pushed my buttons. Again, if you fucked up why is it my problem.
Does anyone know if they really could still call the police and claim I never gave them the code?

Good! That will really help you. You just have to prove you had every intent of paying. It's not your fault they didn't get all the info they needed.
