Ryan and I went to see Nate's new band (Send More Cops) play last night at the Sonic Unyon attic. It was weird being back there, in that little area of Transit/Sonic Unyon, because I stopped the show circuit like 2 years ago. I enjoyed their band but I totally didn't like the atmosphere. I'm so past that whole, "go to a local show, stand there with your arms crossed the whole time, watch the band with a critical eye, and then sort of get into the last band" thing. I felt like how a middle aged man would feel if he went to see like Iron Maiden nowadays, and there were all these young people just getting into that shit. I felt out of place. I think it was mostly the fact that it was Sonic Unyon, though. I still really like going to shows at the Underground, that place has good vibes. Maybe it's because you can drink and there are places to sit down.
But anyways. I don't think I really want to go to another show at either Sonic or Transit (do they even hold shows anymore???) again. Unless it's someone spectacular.
But anyways, Nate's band was good. I'm not sure if I like their new singer more than I liked Bob, but I must admit their songs are longer now haha. I ran around taking pictures for them, felt a little awkward because I haven't done that for ages. Plus I feel like people are thinking in their heads that they want me to fuck off and stop getting in the way of the show or something. Meh, fuck them. I got a couple really good pictures, but I'm pissed off because it was so dark in there and my camera was being a hunk of junk, so a few really good shots turned out wayyyy too dark. Grrr. Even when I tried to brighten them up in Photoshop, they turned out too grainy because of it. I'm pissed.
I saw Phil there. It was cool talking to him, he told me Rise broke up for good, and he's in this new band now called Keep It Up, so we got a copy of their demo. Joe was supposedly showing up later too, but both Ryan and I were so fucking tired that we just left after Nate's band. It was fun going out though, I just wish both of us would have had more energy.
Oh yeah, there was this guy I used to work with, Nathan, when I worked at Spencer Gifts, and I got his email address through a forward the other day, so I emailed him to see how he was doing and shit. That guy was so awesome, we had good times when we had shifts together. Yanni too, he was cool. But anyways, he emailed me back this morning and he wants Ryan and I to get together with him and his woman soon, so that'll be fun. I liked his girl when I met her, she seemed down to earth.
