Okay so I know these rumors pop up like every 3 or 4 years but this one seems to have a lot more validity to it. So Comic Con International better known as San Diego Comic Con might be moving here to Las Vegas in the next 2 years or so. Apparently Comic Con is not too happy with San Diego because not only is the convention center getting too small to host them but also hotel rates are through the roof and cannot support capacity making it nearly impossible for the amount of people they want to go (I personally cannot afford the hotel rates either, 3 days comes out to 3 grand). Well we just announced the expansion to our convention center which will now sit where the old Riviera hotel sat. Now we aren't the only city that has pounced on Comic Con's move but of the other 3 cities mentioned 2 of them (not counting mine of course) are within reasonable reaches of attending. Anaheim, Los Angeles, and Phoenix have all been mentioned as bids at taking Comic Con. Anaheim and L.A. are both within my budget of attending and Las Vegas would be amazing. I hope this ends up happening in the next two or three years because Las Vegas not only has the capacity (we are built on tourism) to hold guests but our convention center with the expansion will be more than enough to handle Comic Con!!!!!!

I wouldn't complain if it moved. I drove 160 miles round trip three days in a row because I couldn't get a reasonable hotel anywhere near the convention center. I don't think Anaheim could contain CCI. They don't have the open space that San Diego has for all the outside vendors which is a nice way to take a break from the insanity. Vegas might be a good change since the whole area is so workable but I wonder how the whole mix of "walking with alcohol" would work out...

Well I talked to a few friend who are a bit cynical when it comes to it moving down here. The thing is Comic Con International likes Vegas as a possible move however something always comes up to where they end up staying. It's like that one person who makes a really grand New Year's Resolution every year but never ever sticks to it ever. Comic Con doesn't like San Diego at all because they simply don't have the hotel space to take the literal thousands of people who show up, however Vegas does. Now the problem my friends see is the strip itself. They personally believe that if Comic Con were to move here to Vegas then the strip would have to close down to traffic and my friends don't see that happening (personally if they are making millions off Comic Con the city will close the strip no problem). Second issue is with the outside portion of Comic Con. Last year Ubisoft set up a massive Assassin's Creed Obstacle Course to run and they also did one the year before. If CC moves here they may not be able to have as big of an outside portion as they do in San Diego. I'm an optimist though and personally I feel that Comic Con is serious about Vegas this time. They really don't like San Diego and I honestly think we are closer to getting Comic Con here than we've ever been in the years past. However it will still be an issue for locals to get tickets. I won't have to pay for hotel stays but I will still have to figure out a way to nab down a ticket. @soraleia
