So things always seem to even out for me, it's just always been that way... I'm like Seinfeld "even Steven". Just when I am desperate for money something gets handed to me so it all works out.
Anyway, I have blogged about the state of my job before... about getting a 20% paycut etc. due to the economy. Which was a large chunk of change to lose each month. Things were tight. THEN my fucking car's transmission decided it had had enough... long story short, it was in the shop for two weeks and ended up being a complete rebuild and wiped out what little funds I had left costing about $2500 CAD! So things were looking pretty dreary for me!!
So I spend a weekend at my Sister's place not this past weekend but the one before (it was a long weekend here in Canada) and was talking about it with her and my Brother in Law. So I am back to work on Tuesday and I get a text message from my brother in law asking if I can do lunch with him and the President of the company he works for! So I am like um...sure! My car is still in the shop however so he say's no problem we will come out there and pick you up! Sounds good to me! So they pick me up and take me out to lunch, it's basically a very casual interview (as I know both of them) which ends with a job offer! I wish all interviews could be like that! LOL
So I now have a better title "Creative Director" and close to $10,000 more than I was making before the pay cut at my current job! Plus I didn't lose my 3 weeks paid vacation, and there will be "performance bonuses".
So it has all worked out with little to no effort on my part
I have given my notice and am moving on, it's a big relief. I just need to scrape by for a month until I get my first pay cheque from the new job and all will be right again!
I was hanging with my best friend this past weekend, he knows me better than anyone, we have been best friends for 25 years! We were discussing the whole situation and I said to him "imagine if I actually tried!?". He said to me "dude, if you actually tried it would end badly for you! When you are down something always just comes along for you, it's always been that way". So far he's right, knock on wood, hope it stays that way! haha
