Hi Noir,
Well as you can see I have been busy again, making international friends and influencing people.
Today's next adventure was the ice breaker Oden. Holy shit she was cool! Quite the impressive set up, and the Chief Officer Matthias was quite the tour guide. We did not get to spend a lot of time on board hanging out with the crew, but we did get to meet quite a few of them. Surprisingly, there are only 20 of them operating that ship, compared to the U.S. Polar Sea, of 150. It was decided that because the Polar Sea is a government RUN ship, that would explain the higher number. The Oden is owned by the Swedish government, but contracted out to a private company for operation. Fancy that.
The Chief Officer was quite taken with my scarf and hat. I almost thought he might have been hitting on me, but then I realized that he probably hasn't seen an international octopus of intrigue before. In the end though, they offered me a job. I told them this year was out of the question, but I might give it consideration after concluding my travels this year. I think it would be of benefit to them to out source to octopuses in the future. Just a thought.
Anyway, I have just been busy helping Kay with her fisty the penguin ideas. I'm not sure it is going to fly (intentional pun), but it's been fun. I'm meeting people from all over the station, and having a good time. The weather has been fairly nice. Kay finally scored me my own key, so I can come and go a little easier now out of her dorm room.
I think Neel is going to take me for a ride on one of the fire trucks before my time here is up. I'm looking forward to that too! I think I could make a good firefighter. I still have not gotten the tour of the Crary lab with the hot beaker lady. I called her in hopes of meeting up for a drink, but she was getting ready to go out to a field camp. Maybe I should try again tomorrow. If not, then I might join Neel at Scott base for American night tomorrow.
Tell everyone hello for me!
