I am setting down my BRAND NEW COPY of "Pokemon: White Version" to make this important annoucement, so you know what I'm about to say is huge and important and about my upcoming set, "Game Over To Stereotypes" and why the admins and mods gave it the rare "CONTROVERSIAL" label as far as categorizing it---
In exactly ten days from tomorrow (the 7th), my very first set as a Hopeful, "Game Over To Stereotypes" goes live amongst the site--On March 17th. I'm so excited and nervous, I don't know what to do with myself except keep myself entertained with my new Pokemon game until then. XD But, really, what I am honestly getting ready to say is very important:
Basically, the admins and mods have placed it under the following categories: "Blue hair", "Hot", "Video games", "Black girl", "Kingdom Hearts", "Guitar Hero", and my FAVORITE one--"Controversial". Now, if you're asking WHY is it "controversial", because so FEW sets actually have that label, it's because of the message attached in the summary to describe the set:
~~~If it's one thing I hate, it's STEREOTYPES. In fact, if every, single stereotype in the world were a living, breathing person, I would gang up on it and beat the living hell out of it, bury it in a discreet location, and then go back and visit it once a week just to laugh at it because it's gone.
But what's interesting is that if I (or anyone else) goes against the grain, I'm either a "white girl" or "weird". Which is so fucking stupid. So, just because I talk like I was raised well, don't spit out ebonics every five seconds, and don't have a nasty attitude like I have a stick constantly shoved up my ass, I'm not black???
Well, guess what? I am. I'm black; I DON'T talk ghetto, I'm not loud (outside of bed), I love dyeing my hair different colors, and guess what? I am a hardcore gamer. So, you can take your stereotypes, your labels, and compile them into a single consummate being. I'll be waiting with my shovel to beat the hell out of it and bury these stupid stereotypes once and for all.
My name is Jackie; I'm black. I'm happy with my blue hair. My video game crush is Sora, Dante, and about fifty other hot game boys. Oh, and I'm a gamer. You don't like it?
F*ck you. It's game over.~~~
So, pretty much, needless to say, this is a set about my love of video games and ultimately SLAMMING the FUCKING UGLY stereotype about black women. Not all of us are bitchy, conceited, and use slang and are loud and ghetto and don't play video games, and don't watch anime or manga, and DON'T have a billion kids by the time we're 17. (Hell, I just made 22 in February. Did you know that's a fucking RECORD?)
I know I'M not any of these things. I never WILL be because to me, ladies and gentleman, that is ignorance at it's FINEST. So, I'm sorry if you don't agree with me on that, but that's how I feel. So, come March 17th at 3am, it's Game Over To Stereotypes.
(AAAAAAAAAND for your viewing pleasure---a simple shot from the set. Probably one of my faves!)
