Intro
Hey Hey Hey, Wasa Wasa What’s Up Fury Family!! 😎🤘🏻
It’s another year, another Halloween has passed us by and we are all feeling the post Halloween blues. I know I am.
Unlike many reading this. Well maybe. I had no Halloween parties or dressed up for Halloween this year. I only see my folks these days in my IRL and they’re not much into Halloween like me. So I do what I do usually. Binge watch horror, thriller or any Halloween themed films. Not as much as the previous years due to busyness. But I still watch a few solid ones. Some I’ve already covered in past Halloween Watchlist blogs.
Please check them out below before reading on:
(Didn’t do a Watchlist blog in 2022 unfortunately, wish I did)
All the Halloween Watchlist blogs I did last year:
DAY 1: SMILE
DAY 5: HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL (1959)
DAY 13: FRIDAY THE 13TH (2009)
DAY 14/15/16/17: CORALINE/SILENCE OF THE LAMBS & THE ADDAMS FAMILY FILMS
DAY 19/20/21/22/23/24: THE SCREAM FILMS
THE FINAL HALLOWEEN WATCHLIST BLOG!
So yeah a few reading material for yous all. Just if yous want to read my past movie reviews in my past Halloween Watchlist blogs. I didn’t do the daily blog this year since it is a lot of work and don’t have time. Also I didn’t watch films every day. Especially since I’m a home cook and after a long day of cooking & cleaning. I’m thinking of one thing…sleep lol.
But I have watched a bunch of good movies. There’s one bad one but I’ll get to it eventually.
Also just in case no one saw…
I carved my first pumpkin. Not bad eh. I know next year I’ll be better at pumpkin design. But I enjoyed making this pumpkin. Definitely need to decorate my watch room with Halloween stuff for next year. I know @hex will get jealous lol. But yeah tbh I love just binging on Halloween themed/Horror flicks every October now. Been a tradition since I did the Halloween Watchlist thing on Instagram years ago thanks to my good friend & ex SG Hopeful @missjcristina who is missed on this site. Especially by me. Even though I keep in touch with her since we’re IRL friends like a lot of the models I support. And tbh all I talk about is horror films & films in general with them. Especially @rare @fla @infernum @blaizee @luluvalotta @amra @annaedelrid @chinaski @ravenna @helainked @zyggdrasilp @akiramai @sammiii @fredhincanada @diddy_dave_uk @nerwen @jemjem @sophiestonem @braaa @brizelll @victoriaboness @jasminelouise @tripodski @gnomi @babu @truthfairy @julha @joymermaid and so forth. I could go on but yous know who yous are.
Basically I’m a horror nut lol. So yeah let’s get started shall we? So here are 15 films I have watched for this year’s Halloween Watchlist:
==================================================================
My Halloween Watchlist Reviews
Late Night With The Devil
So to start off we got this film that I wanted to watch badly. Subscribe to Shudder to see this one since it’s an exclusive film on there.
This film was brilliant. Love the setting and the way it was shot. It reminded me of Ghostwatch tbh, they shot it like it’s an actual late night talk show. Pure genius.
Love David Dastmalchian as Jack Delroy in this film. A popular talk show host who invites a girl on his show who claims to be processed by a supernatural being. And that’s all I’ll say. Since I don’t do spoilers. But David was so good in this film. Just great acting all around. It is different than the other films I’ve seen. It is just so well done and I love it. 4/5
=================================
The Brood
No No not THAT brood. The Brood from 1979 from the master of body horror himself David Cronenberg. Watched a few of his films this Halloween Watchlist. This being one of them!
This one was just alright. Nothing too special tbh. Think the plot is a bit hard to understand and some of the scenes were edited not well. Lot of quick cuts which did annoy me. The acting was just fine. So yeah the film overall was just…fine. Nothing I’ll see again. If yous are hardcore into body horror then give it a watch but everyone else, rent it & see if yous like it. I just think it was just ok. 3/5
=================================
Scanners
This one is not like the last film. Which I thought The Brood was just ok. This one….meh.
I will say I love the head exploding scene we all know. But the rest of the film was…meh. Yeah pretty mediocre imo. Think the acting was not good in this one, it took itself too seriously when theirs a lot of over the top acting in this which come across as an unintentional comedy sometimes. But I was laughing at it on how stupid it is. Also I find the story boring. And the characters are boring. So yeah not my favourite one. Besides the head exploding scene. You’re not missing out much. 2/5

Terrifier 1 & 2
Yep I’ve finally watched both films at long last.
Start with the first one. It was a very good slasher and I do love Art The Clown. It’s a total psycho but he’s got humour too. I will say Brain Dead is now not the goriest film I’ve seen. Terrifier films are the goriest & bloodiest films I’ve watched. I mean it is as NSFW as my OnlyFans purchased history haha. But I do enjoy Art The Clown but besides him & how gory it is. It’s an average plot the first one. No relatable characters and yeah it could use some better characters & a better plot than a too simple slasher plot you know. Still I like it. I give the first one a 3/5
Now to number 2. No more average plot and paper thin characters. This one is a big improvement. Very majority. I fucking love this film. Great story, characters, well shot, surprisingly funny in a dark comedy way thanks to Art The Clown and solid acting especially from the lead female actress Lauren LaVera. Who should be in more films. She’s brilliant and also beautiful. But also badass. Just so much awesome in this film. I know it went too long for some people. And yeah it could have cut a few minutes off. But I enjoyed it. Love this film! 4½/5

V/H/S 1, 2 and Viral
So I started on the V/H/S franchise this Halloween Watchlist. Definitely will watch the rest & include the other ones in next year’s Halloween Watchlist.
Start with the first one. I like it. I wouldn’t say it’s the best but I love the format. Making it a found footage anthology is a good idea. Basically it starts with a bunch of robbers breaking in this house and all they found in the house is tapes. Yous get to watch 5 short films as tapes. First tape was really good & dead creepy. I love it. Second tape was alright. Third tape was ok too. Fourth tape was great and the final tape was decent. So overall the first V/H/S is a 4/5
Now to V/H/S 2. This one imo is way better than the first. It’s a really awesome film as a whole since I do prefer the characters who are coming to check out this house with the tapes. Two Private Detectives. So like the first film they go thru the tapes aka short films. This time it’s four tapes. First tape was decent enough, second one was good, third tape was AWESOME and the fourth one was pretty good too. Not a bad tape in sight and the main narrative was good too. This seriously going into my Blu Ray collection like the first. I loved this movie. 5/5
Unfortunately the third one was not as awesome. Viral was BAD. I was majorly let down. After two solid V/H/S films. How did the third sucked so much, I’ll never know. The main narrative this time is messy. It’s about this teen who is searching for his girlfriend or something but it’s told very badly. The writing in the main narrative is an absolute mess cause it cuts to random ppl getting killed by the signal off their phones from the ice cream truck that’s speeding by. Goes all over the place. Dead confusing. So we got three tapes in this one. And they’re all shite people. You may notice I didn’t reveal the summary on the tapes in the first two films. Well their awesome films I don’t want to spoil. This one I’m spoiling, seriously skip this one it’s bad ppl. The first one is not even found footage, it’s this weird mockumentary of this magician who can do fuck up magic since his cape has powers and it’s evil. I’m thinking my 4 year old niece can write better than this. Like what. The second tape was average, it’s about a guy who opens up a doorway to another dimension he work on since he is a scientist or something. The usual shenanigans happens, nothing special the second tape tbh but it’s not bad. Oh no the third tape is the worst tape of all the V/H/S films so far. It has the most unlikeable characters ever in a horror film. No joke. It’s these skateboarding fucks who just skate, smoke weed and act like the biggest cunts on the planet. All of this is shot so badly, I actually had to pause the film cause I was getting motion sickness. No joke. Like this is Batman & Robin bad. Was shock this is on a sequel to two solid films this piece of shit short film. Hate it to death. Like Viral in general. A big major letdown that I had to stop binge watching the V/H/S movies. Sorry to come across negative but I hate this third film. Need to rant this one out. Watch the first two but avoid Viral at all cost! 0/5

Videodrome
Luckily this David Cronenberg film is the one I enjoyed. And I do enjoy a lot of David Cronenberg’s films like A History Of Violence, Eastern Promises, The Birds, Existenz, etc. So I am a fan of his films.
This is the film I think put James Woods on the map. He is really good as this Exec of a R Rated Cable Channel that btw is very welcomed in this day and age of algorithms censoring everything on social medias (looking at you Instagram). He discovers a snuff film called VideoDrome and basically shit hits the fan.
It is weird but very good film. Great acting from Woods & surprisingly Debbie Harry too. Only no Blonde on the film’s soundtrack, WTF Cronenberg lol jk. But I love the complex odd story. The visuals is great too, especially for early 80’s. Still holds up today imo. So if you’re looking for a good weird ass movie. This film is for you peeps! 4/5
=================================
Manhunter
The film that started the Hannibal Lecter films/shows. It’s this awesome Michael Mann film from the year 1986. Almost 87 (the year I was born). But year I watched another Michael Mann film with my folks. They hate horror movies. We watched Heat. Which is a 5/5 film btw. So awesome. One of the best heist movies ever imo. Also Al Pacino & Robert De Niro in their prime. Definitely one of my favourite 90’s flicks.
Like this film is a favourite 80’s film for me. So awesome.
Which follows a FBI profiler who is hunting down a serial killer who is nicknamed the tooth fairy. And he gets help from Hannibal. Which is played by Brian Cox. Who was great as Hannibal. All the acting is top notch. Same with the cinematography as always in a Michael Mann film. Also a top notch story too. Some solid dialogue and character development. Yeah it is an awesome thriller. Highly recommended. Definitely one of my favourites from the 80’s. 5/5
=================================
X
Yeah it’s two films from the X trilogy. Starting with this one.
Going to give yous from trivia here. You know the first V/H/S film. There’s a link to the X trilogy. And that link is that Ti West written/directed tape two in the first V/H/S film. So he started off in one of the V/H/S films before he created the X trilogy. Pretty cool eh.
Well he is a talented fella. Since this is a solid slasher. And it’s about a group of people renting out a cabin out in this farm that is owned by this old couple and this group is shooting a porno. Or sex work. Basically my dreams in a nutshell lol. I’m not saying what SG Model btw. Or models lol. But yeah this film, the group are shooting a porno but shit hits the fan.
I enjoyed it. Great acting, well directed, story is good enough and it gets you engaged. Also creepy too. A good slasher should be. Yep it’s a very good film. Enjoyed it! 4/5
=================================
Pearl
Now to the sequel or should I say prequel.
This film is imo way better than X. And I do enjoyed X. But Pearl is just so awesome. Mia Goth is brilliant. Deserves an Oscar nomination for her performance in this movie. Probably the best acting I’ve seen in a horror film ever. No joke ppl. Her performance as Pearl is iconic. Up there with Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes imo. Just brilliant.
I won’t go into too much detail since I don’t want to spoil. All I can say is. This is one of my favourite Horror movies now. Pearl is a masterpiece! 5/5
=================================
Pet Sematary
Yeah it can’t be Halloween Watchlist without a Stephen King film right? So I watched this one. The original movie of King’s book. Not the remake from 2019. I’ll include that one for next year’s Halloween Watchlist.
So this adaptation of Stephen King’s book is just so so imo. I will say I do love the writing, think it is a solid narrative. But my issues is the development, editing and some of the acting. Especially the father character, he was so dull. Do think the child actors and the old fella was good though. Also I feel most of the film feels rushed & under developed you know. I do love the concept and who knows I may enjoy the remake more. But see what happens.
As for this one. It is hit & miss. It’s just alright. But do give it a watch. For me there is good bits but theirs not so good bits too. 3/5
However the song Pet Sematary is a 5/5 cause it’s The Ramones for goodness sake lol! 😎🤘🏻

Hellboy
Oh hell yes now we are going to be talking about one of my favourite films growing up that I rewatch a lot. That being Hellboy 1 & 2. The other Hellboy films don’t count. If it doesn’t have Ron Perlman & Del Toro directing then fuck them. Not sorry!
So yeah let’s start with this one. This is a great film. Just fun. I miss films that just want to have fun you know. Especially with superhero films. Like it has a mature story but still knows what it is & has fuckin fun you know. Feels like Deadpool & Wolverine is a rare fun superhero film these days isn’t it. Still get fun horror films these days and I will say the last couple of years has been awesome for horror film fans like myself. But I miss blockbuster films like Hellboy here and 2 as well. Just entertain and have fun doing it you know. No force messaging and all that you know.
So anyway after speaking my mind there lol. This is just a great fun ass movie. It’s witty, badass, visually stunning, great story, awesome characters and a great origin story too. It is just a solid film. The bad guys are alright and I do wish there was more development on them you know. But that’s really it. This is brilliant. 4/5

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
Now onto the follow up. And it is more better than the already awesome first.
I love this film. Probably up there as one of my favourite films in the 00’s. It’s in the top ten. Guillermo Del Toro was on fire at this time. He won a lot of awards and praise for his film Pan’s Ladyrinth. Which I’ll cover in my Halloween Watchlist…next year. Don’t worry I note it down on my notes with the alert one. I am committed haha.
But yeah he is one of my favourite filmmakers Del Toro. The guy is a genius.
This film is genius. Like the first film. It has awesome characters, acting, story, pace, visuals and well everything. Also I loved the bad guy in this one. I understand the motivation and him as a character. Think he was a great villain. So it’s hard to talk about this film since I have no criticism for it. It’s a masterpiece, plain and simple!
Also CAN WE GET HELLBOY 3 WITH DEL TORO & PERLMAN BACK NOW? FFS HOLLYWOOD!!!
“taking deep breaths” sorry I’m still pissed that we got no follow up after this kick ass film. Like come on. Wish I was in charge of Hollywood and greenlight the real Hellboy 3. Not last two films that sucked balls. It’s like me wanting to be SG’s boss and finally turn @victoriaboness @truthfairy @asxna @helainked @lucki @nicolelux @seitan @nannakya etc pink as well as give @rare @nerwen @julha @jemjem @jasminelouise @blaizee @sammiii @gnomi @joymermaid @pimenta @braaa @tink @laikaa @dannikadaisy @keshia etc more SOTDs. Yeah imagining me running SG peeps. Free burgers for everyone and we all have a hangout at Bar Sinister while drinking Mojtios. Hey we all have goals haha. 😂😉👍🏻
But yeah I have to get that rant out cause I love the first two Hellboy movies. Their awesome. Like this masterpiece. Please watch them both, ignore the ones after this one! 5/5

Constantine
So the final film for this year’s Halloween Watchlist is this film that is getting a sequel and good.
Always enjoyed this film and it’s only got better overtime. Think a lot of people years ago who reviewed it. Saying it’s mediocre, well that’s their opinion…
Yeah I said it lol. This film is great. Such a good story and I love that it respects the audience of just tell you enough of John Constantine and his character. No origin story. Just tells you enough and you’re focus on him doing his best to make amends so he can go to heaven by doing exorcist work.
Keanu Reeves is great in this film. So is Rachel Weisz who is so beautiful. But also this film has one of the best Satan’s ever in Peter Stormare portrayal. So awesome.
It’s got a good story, acting, visuals effects, etc. It is a solid film and I’m looking forward to the sequel. Definitely check it out peeps! 4/5
Also this song is 5/5 from one of my favourite bands A Perfect Circle. Which is in the film’s soundtrack…

The Conclusion
Indeed I did and hope everyone enjoyed it!
Thank you for reading it peeps. Sorry I’m late to the party. As usual IRL has been busy and wish I added more. But the other films I watched aren’t Halloween Watchlist material since my folks aren’t into horrors, supernatural or fantasy stuff like me. Also just been busy in general.
Like I said I wrote other Halloween Watchlist blogs in the past. Check out the links to those above if yous enjoyed reading my reviews on films.
