The Conjuring Trilogy Reviews
Yep I have watched all three Conjuring films today. Luckily I went to bed after writing up bits of this blog. I do a lot of editing in advance so save me time. In case people go "How are you doing this Fury?" trust me, it's a breeze doing these blogs. Cause I am having fun creating these. Just like these films.....well 2 of them. I'll start with the first one and again there's no spoilers or a plot summary.
First one was so awesome. Fantastic. It did reminded me of the old haunted house films. In fact I reviewed one yesterday. That being The Haunting. With a bit of The Exorcist in it. Speaking of Lili Taylor was in this film. She was Eleanor in The Haunting remake in 1999 that I hate, since I love the original one in 1963. Even though that film has a great cast like her, Liam Neeson, Catherine Zeta Jones, Owen Wilson, etc. Just the screenplay, the bad laughable CGI and one of the dumbest endings ever hurt that film. Not the cast fault, I think it would work with a better director, screenplay writer and less studio BS you know. Lili is a great actress and has been a lot of great films like Mystic Pizza, Ransom, etc and also was in Six Feet Under, a very underrated TV show. And she was awesome here in The Conjuring 1, along with Patrick Wilson & Vera Farmiga (Both rarely in bad roles). Hell all the acting was great. And I love the whole investigating stuff. Bit of Ghostwatch there too (Which I will review in this blog series soon btw). It is based of true story of The Warrens, who were famous paranormal investigators in the US back in the 60's, 70's, 80's, etc. This is for all The Conjuring films. And I think both Patrick & Vera were so good & love the characters. So believe it or not, this is the first time I've watched The Conjuring films. I know right and I am kicking myself for not watching them sooner. But I've done it and I loved the first one. First one gets......a 5/5
Next one was Conjuring 2 and it's in London. And The Warrens are there to deal with the Enfield incident. It happened in the late 70's and remember hearing about it a lot. I remember in school, we would listen to real life haunted homes stories and Enfield was one of them. It's pretty interesting stuff if your into reading up creepypasta stories sometimes like myself. So I knew a bit of the based on the true story this one was set in. And like the first film. It was awesome, so good. I have to say, the child actors in this one were so awesome. Especially Madison Wolfe who played Janet Hodgson. She was so incredible in the film. As well as Frances O'Connor too. First I saw her in a film in a while. Remember her from Bedazzled remake with Brendan Fraser, I liked that one tbh. Probably cause I like Brendan Fraser. But yeah the acting here is superb, the directing from James Wan like the first is superb and of course Patrick & Vera were great too as always. It's another 5/5 no joke lol. Very awesome horror films!!
Third one however was when it wasn't as awesome as the first two imo. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad film. It was just decent. Think it was lacking on giving a shit about the case you know. Think the supporting characters were just meh and the whole satanic stuff was lackluster imo. I will say The Warrens story arc and of course Patrick & Vera really carried this third film for me. I actually do care about them and their just awesome characters. Without their story arc & the characters themselves. This film would've sucked. It did had it's moments like the beginning and it had John Noble in it & was awesome as always. But out of the three Conjuring films, this one was easily the weakest. Still is a fairly decent flick. Mostly cause of The Warrens. 3/5
There is a forth one in the works and I am looking forward to that. If yous are wondering. I only saw the first Nun from the Conjuring spin off films and tbh I didn't like it. I do hear Annabelle: Creation was fairly good. May watch that as well as the first Annabelle film. But my mates do say stick to the main Conjuring films lol. But all three are definitely worth a watch 100%. Definitely getting the Blu Ray. I'm a Conjuring fan now!! 🤘😎🤘
