I'm certainly no expert on the genres, but I really like a lot of the movies from comics/videogames out there right now. I like seeing a return to good fiction and a move away from hyper-realism.
i've seen a name mentioned here and there on imdb, Uwe Boll. He seems to be attached to a lot of upcoming movies in this vane, and there also seems to be a plethora of bad opinions about him.
I'm watching the movie channel last night and a flick called "Alone in the Dark" comes on. Slater, Reid, Dorff, may not be bad.
Umm, whoa. What an incredible piece of shit. Bad on every level - performances, script, action, lighting, e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. The credits roll and there's Uwe's name as director/producer. Now I get it.
How does someone that clearly awful get attached to so many upcoming projects? Seriously, all "hollywood puts out a lot of crap" and "there's plenty of bad directors in hollywood" comments aside. This guy's really bad. Low-grade B movie bad. With the bar getting higher and higher in terms of quality for this type of movie, why would producers risk millions on a crappy director when there's plenty of others around that could do the job. I just don't get it.

As Spaceboy above said - the guy is an idiot, and I'm DREADING to see what he's done to Bloodrayne.
Not good.
The one key thing that I'm angry about already is the fact that the girl he casted as Bloodrayne - well - he's leaving her blonde.
Bloodrayne has bright red hair.
Argh.
