Well well well well! Yet again, KT the Great ought to be doing something other than blogging, but, lo and behold, here she is again!
So, as of a few days ago, I am officially single. Yes indeedy folks! First time since i was 15. Weird, yes? My relationship lasted longer than some marriages! haha Anyway, I don't feel like going into lots of detail so I will just say that after all the weirdness that was going on my JM and I came to a mutual decision that we would be better suited as friends rather than spouses. We both still care about each other, but thought this was for the best. Strange to get used to this, but I think we're doing pretty well so far.
Don't feel like delving into that much more so c'est tout.
I will say, my friends and family have all been very supportive and I really appreciate that. I am quite lucky to have such good people around me.
Wow, that was a little sappy, but I guess sometimes even I am a sap.
Oh! I spent 20+ hours in the lab last week! That's tons! I am just going to live up there from now on! I enjoy the lab, but that is too much. It gets so quiet up there . . . creepy! This week looks like it will be much less than last (thank goodness) because no one is really signing up for my experiment. I do have one tomorrow after the lab meeting. I guess I'll be relegated to lit search again. Woo.
Oh Oh Oh!!!! Brenda told me today that she met a girl that was doing field study at UCSF and she got to scrub up and watch a real brain surgery!!!!! How fucking cool is that!? Brenda said she thought of me when she heard that and she'd try to get me some more info about how to get involved. OMG! If I got to watch brain surgery I'd probably die from an awesome attack!
I've been looking for some kind of lab position to occupy my year off. Lots of people want me to know how to program a computer (MATLAB I think that is what it was called, no idea) AND have experience with an fMRI. How the fuck would I get experience with an fMRI!!!! Especially as an undergrad! UCSC doesn't even have one and if they did, do you really think they'd let the likes of me anywhere near the thing?!
Um you should watch (listen to really) this. It made me laugh.
I think I am going to go be a nerd and actually do some HW.
Nitey Nite

I have to take a class on MATLAB next year. Not looking forward to it. Apparently most labs use it so it'll be practical. Someone in my lab is teaching himself via the internets but you have to buy MATLAB. Also, I know some people working in fMRI labs as undergrads so its possible but hard to find. Good luck with that. If you don't need money I could probably help you find a cool lab at UCSD cause we got lots.
I want to watch a brain surgery! That would be so cool! Almost as cool as getting to poke someone in the brain (which is a goal of mine).
