I had a lovely day off. I went to the beach with my mommy as a Mother's Day thing. I know, it seems a day late, but I had to work on Sunday, and my mom is always responsible for making Sunday dinner, always. So we went today instead. We were going to take my car, but it got a flat tire from a nail from the remodel my parents are doing. So we took my mom's van, after waiting for nearly an hour to have Les Schwab tell us they couldn't fix my tire. So after our late start we finally headed to the coast. The first place we went to was the Hatfield Marine Science Center, which is an aquarium type place that Oregon State University runs. We got there at the perfect time. They were feeding the fish, abalones, and the octopus who only eats 3x a week. The octopus was really active when we first got there, I think she knew it was dinnertime. She straight up pounced on the crab five seconds after they put it in her tank. We checked on her 20 minutes later, and she had turned super pale and was balled up in a corner. You could see the crab sticking out of her beak. It was awesome! So after leaving the aquarium, we drove around, found this neat little touristy shopping center they're building, and decided to head on up to depoe bay for salt water taffy and clam chowder. There is a little restaurant on the highway called the Chowder Bowl, I swear it has the best food I've ever eaten on the coast. Its a really cute place too, they have a model train that runs on a track around the walls. After that, we headed up to Lincoln City, and ended up at the outlet mall. We wandered around and ogled clothing for a few hours, and I scored a sweet deal on bras, 3 for $15. After closing down the outlet mall, we decided to wander back towards home. At about 8:30, we realized that even though it's been pouring rain all day, it isn't really a beach trip until you stick your feet in the ocean. So we went to Agate beach and spent about thirty minutes bundling up, just so we could walk down to the water, let the waves roll over our feet for a second, and come right back to the car. It was so freaking cold! We got back to the car, put dry socks and shirts on, blasted the heat, and headed home. It was absolutely fantastic. I had a great day. How was yours?

i guess it wasn't really a cake since i didn't add any fat and not much sugar. i would call it a sweetbread, but that's something not sweet and entirely not bready.
