Personal money stuff that I doubt any of you will find very interesting....it's basically me just thinking outloud
So....
I've come to the realization that I'm fucking broke.
I got my paycheck today. $130. (I get paid bi-weekly.) Not only that, but my paycheck is already spent (not physically spent, but all that money has certain places to go.) I have $2.14 in my checking account.
And, in the past month, I just figured out that I've spent approximately $170 on drugs and alcohol. On the upside, it's good I can spend that much and not actually have a problem (and yeah, I realize how bullshit that sounds, but wait a minute for my reasoning). On the downside, that's a hell of a lot of money. Here's how it plays out:
-$130 for weed (which is good since weed isn't physically addictive). I haven't smoked most of that weed yet (good because it means I don't have to buy more for a while) and $25 of that weed was contributed to a party.
-$35 for alcohol. Two 1.75 liters of Pucker's and a couple 4 packs of Sparks. I had approximately 2-3 shots worth of alcohol out of one of those Pucker's (a girl named Rikki drank the rest) and I've had about 3-4 shots worth of alcohol out of the other Pucker's (the rest is waiting for the same party some of the weed goes to). The beer I drank most of myself (I think some other people had some, too). Paying for alcohol really isn't a big deal as long as I'm just paying for myself, because apparently I can get wasted off of two beers now. Yay for low alcohol tolerance.
-A few bucks for Adderall.
I've been spending too much on frivolous shit like shampoo. I did buy $4.99/bottle generic Paul Mitchell stuff (instead of $20/bottle real Paul Mitchell stuff), but I honestly didn't need the shampoo. It's not like I'm going to throw my old stuff out, I'm still going to use it, but I don't need to have this much shampoo/conditioner at once.
$30 for contacts was useless, too. I mean, I do need contacts, but I don't need colored ones.
Cat scratching post/bed stuff. I mean, I really want to make scratching posts (I've made one which actually turned out pretty good), but I shouldn't have bought all that stuff. I do need the stuff I bought, but the problem is that I can't buy the cardboard tube for one scratching post unless I buy enough for three. Stuff like that.
No more fast food for me, or non-free food from work, for at least a couple weeks.
So yeah, this all makes me feel pretty bad. I mean, it's not like my cats are going to starve or anything, but I should be handling my money better and I know how to handle my money better so there's really no excuse.
I should probably mention that I currently owe my mother $325. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't feel nearly as bad about my situation. I hate having I.O.U.s. I mean, at least it's not debt to a credit card company where I'd be paying a buttload of interest and shitting on my credit history, but it's still money I owe and need to pay. I'm going to give my mom as much as my paycheck as I possibly can (a whopping $70...woo hoo...not), but that's still $255. I could dip into my emergency fund, but that's kind of special to me (I'm a dork), I want to save it for a time I'm *really* desperete, and it wouldn't yield much anyway. My "emergency fund" is $2 bills, $1 coins, and fifty cent pieces I've collected the past 4 years I've worked in retail. It only adds up to $68, and it'd be hard to recollect all that shit (not super hard, but a pain in the ass). And I'm not that desperete yet....hm, I should really take that 'yet' away.
Shit. Shit shit fuck piss asshole goddamnit I need money.
Alright, so no fast food and stuff like that. No more weed purchases for at least another few weeks. ALL money from next paycheck (which is another two weeks off....great) that doesn't need to go towards animal expenses will go towards paying off my I.O.U. My only spending money will be what I get in tips. My tax refund (hey, that's only a week and a half off!!! I feel slightly optimistic) will also go to my mother provided I don't need to buy cat food, which is a possibility, but should be the only immediate animal expense other than crickets. My change cup at work will go towards I.O.U. (it's depressing that I'm counting on that as a source of income). I will offer my body to customers at Smoky Jon's for a little more income. And I will never buy another big ticket item like a digital camera and let my mom pay for it that day but start an I.O.U. for it which I have to pay.
And my lip has been swollen today.
Oy.
