A trial started yesterday. You may have heard of Baby Grace. She was found in Galveston Bay floating in a blue plastic box from Walmart. Baby Grace was wrapped in three plastic bags after her tiny dead body was washed with bleach and then bleach poured down her throat.
Two year old Baby Grace needed some discipline. Step dad decided he would handle this for Mommy. He then started on a daylong session so Baby Grace would behave as she should from then on. He beat her so much that day with a belt that he complained to Mommy that his shoulder was sore from all that exertion. Mommy said Baby Grace looked up at her during the beating and said "I love you". Step dad said this was merely an attempt by the baby to manipulate Mom. That had to be beaten out of her too. When the beatings didn't work as planned, tiny, blond headed Grace was dragged into the bathroom and put in a tub of cold water. Every time she screamed her head was shoved back under the water. Step dad then hurled her body onto the tile floor at least three times. One time it was so hard Mom heard a loud crack.
Eventually it did end. Baby Grace could not control her legs to stand when ordered to do so. She was having trouble chewing and swallowing the Tylenol Mommy was administering. Then she stopped breathing. Dad handed her to Mom, and Mom felt her grow cold.
The date was July 25, 2007. I am thinking a lot about what I was doing that day while this was happening. Of course I can't remember. Baby Grace will never forget it. Do you think we should ever be able to forget? I'm sure there are worse things in this world but I'll be damned if I can think of one right now.
