Microdermal Petition!
On May 9, 2011 the Fitchburg Board of Health in Fitchburg, Ma placed a temporary ban on all tattoo and body piercing studios from performing micro dermal piercings.
It is our belief that this decision was made in haste and without merit, as no members of the Board of Health made any attempt or effort to speak with licensed practitioners about micro dermal piercings or an explanation of how the procedure is done.
Micro Dermal Piercings have been done in the city of Fitchburg for over 2 years and were discussed with the head of the Board of Health in 2009. There is no more of a health risk in receiving a micro dermal then there is any other piercing offered within the city, with the procedure, done properly, usually less painful then your basic piercing.
Micro Dermal Piercings have brought in a clientele to the Fitchburg area that would not have normally come here otherwise. My own studio has had customers from Maine, New Hamspshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont and all areas of Massachusetts. These are clients who've traveled this far because they know we offer a safe and professional environment, and that the procedure is being done by trained, experienced practitioners.
According to the Board of Health, there are no complaints against the studios in regards to Micro Dermal Piercings meaning this ban was unprovoked and unnecessary, effecting the studios and their clients only.
We're asking all those whom support their local studios to stand up against the constant discrimination against those who work so hard to offer their clients the best in body art modification.
