Bitte Orca! Orca Bitte!!
My mind is currently being blown by the new Dirty Projectors record.
Gah!
Too good.
After this I have a new Anticon release to digest and review.
Can't wait.
Ah yes, I'm now a freelancer for Drowned In Sound!
Unpaid, of course, but it's a step up in the music journalism stakes.
I covered the Bristol end of Dot To Dot for them (along with my cohort Jozzers) and they liked it so much they decided to keep me.
It's pretty fun.
My review of the new Lovely Eggs album can be found here.
And D2D here.
So so so things are pretty spiffy.
Tomorrow I lock myself away for the afternoon with Zamuzel & Foundry to begin recording An Axe EP3.
More synth! More tremolo! More whammy bar! Reverb! Crooning! Big fuck off drum beats!
It's gonna be IMMENSE and c o n f u s i n g.
For me at least.
We have the brief to make it sound like Bob crawling towards you over the sofa while Leland croons and does his little dance in the background.
Hopefully there will be time to catch KellyMonster too!
theknives has been having a good time at school recently. The kids have stopped acting like little pirates for a bit.
A happy knives is my favourite thing.
We've been having many good sunny times lately. Including treasure hunts, boats and ciders, ales and wines.
Blissness!
She goes to camp soon, which means I have to fend for myself for an entire evening.
Put the coastguard on alert yeah?
I wrote a solo song t'other day.
It's called What Have We Done To Our Embarrassed Landscapes? and it can be downloaded here.
The recording rates were skewed somewhat so the second guitar track and vocals are off a little bit, but I like how it sounds.
It was recorded on a cheap plastic mic into a laptop and played on a practice amp. Still. I like it.
This IS NOT an An Axe song though. I must stress that.
Chris Fever through and through.
And with that I must leave you, for this blog is distracting me from Bitte Orca.
