Well, since the magazine didn't print any of my Emmy The Great shots and only one of my Dirty Projectors and Qui pics, here is an all singing & dancing photo blog for you kids!

In fact, my review wasn't printed at all. So here it is for anyone who fancies a gander:

Emmy The Great - Louisiana 8th November 2007
There are many words to describe the music of Emmy The Great.
'Anti-Folk', 'Country', 'New Folk', 'Twee' (I'm sure the NME has probably made up a couple of hundred more)
After catching her gig at The Louisiana in support of the 'My Bad' EP and the new single 'Gabriel' I will add one more.
'Beautiful'.
I'll admit I didn't know much about Emma Lee-Moss's music before the gig. I'd heard a few demos on her Myspace page and I knew that she was being thrown in with the whole 'London' thing at the moment along with Noah And The Whale and ex-Test Icicle (I bet he'll never get tired of that prefix) Devonte Hynes/Lightspeed Champion and aslo (unfairly) with new pop royalty Kate Nash and Jack Penate. That, however, is where my experience of the talented young Londoner ended.
As soon as she stepped onstage and slipped off her shoes it became apparent just how ridiculous it is to even mention the names Kate Nash and Emmy The Great in the same breath.
There are no forced glottal stops here, no tales of hanging out with your boyfriends' 'fitter' mates and no self consciously 'Laahndahn' ticks. In fact, the only reasons I could see - from the moment she strummed the intro to the first song to the last delicately plucked strings of her solo encore - for comparing the two artists are that they are both female, both from the capital and both writing and performing their own songs.
In fact, even I've spent far too much time discussing Ms. Nash in this review!
If the world was perfect Emmy's songs would be the ones on heavy radio rotation and her face the one on the front of every music magazine. Her songs have a directness and an honesty to them that shines through even the most poetic of lyrics and clever turns of phrase.
She approaches the mic like it's the protagonist of each song, sometimes hushed with eyes downcast, sometimes accusatory and defiant whilst the driving drums and urgent violin propel the story forward.
I could've listened to her and her band play all night long and judging from the groans when she announced the last song and the cheers that followed her offstage, so could the crowd.
It's not often that I get won over by a band whom I haven't had time to discover and digest before seeing them live, but Emmy The Great did just that. Earning herself a place both in my musical heart and, since I downloaded the EP as soon as I got home, my iPod playlist.
Sorry for the relative substance-less-ness of this blog (I was an English student, I can make up any words I please).
Just wanted to share some of my favourite pics with you.
Oooh! Also I applied for a new job! I hope I at least get an interview. I have a chat regarding my future at the current one with my boss on Friday. I really hope his condescending tone doesn't make me snap.
I'm quite bad at that when I've already had enough of the job. I've walked out of two because of the shitty tone of the managers.
Oops.
Well, no matter what Claire0801 and I are going to learn some science on Saturday when she comes to visit. I like to fill my head with new things. I'm quite excited.
The times they are a changing, my friends.
