It's been almost a fortnight since I posted a blog here, so I figured I'd knock out a few words. The subject? Fittingly enough, my failure to keep up with my writing.
"Write more fiction" and "blog more often" were two of my resolutions for 2014, and at this stage I'm not really keeping them. The resolutions were never intended as strict goals, but they were supposed to prompt me to write on a regular basis, to give me a bit of a kick up the arse and ensure I didn't become complacent.

Alas, I've seriously fallen out of the habit when it comes to blogging, and definitely fallen out of love with writing about my current subject. It can be difficult to motivate yourself to keep adding to the constant stream of online content, especially if your chosen topic doesn't readily inspire you to post. Meanwhile my fiction writing has fallen by the wayside too, probably because it's a little unfocused at present.
Fortunately, as someone who loves making plans (and sometimes enjoys sticking to them) I know my next moves. Firstly, I'm going to start a new blog, one that focuses on something I'm more likely to consistently post about (I'm leaning towards food and drink). Secondly, I'm going to take part in National Novel Writing Month, which I've been threatening to do for years. Hopefully this will spur me into action!
