Ok! Update time already!
I saw Nine Inch Nails in Boston at the Orpheum on Thursday and it was fucking great! I also have a funny story about the show.
The band was positioned on stage like this going from left to right: Jeordie (AKA Twiggy Ramerez) on bass on the left, Allessandro on Keyboards behind him, Trent Reznor front and center, Aaron on guitars and Jerome on drums behind him.
Trent is front and center singing and playing guitar. He just about always plays Gibson Les Pauls. These guitars are very pricey and they weight a lot. Behind Trent is nothing but empty space. He turns around and THROWS his guitar back there where it will be eventually snatched up by a roadie, and then he'll be given a freshly tuned guitar.
So Trent turns around, there's nobody there, he thows the guitar, and poor Aaron, who is rocking out with much gusto, starts walking towards the left side of the stage and into the "line of fire". Aaron looks up at just the right moment and catches a glimpse of the airborn Les Paul, and with Matrix-like reflexes leans back, turns around, and hauls ass back to the other side of the stage!
It was scary, but also funny as hell watching Aaron look up at just the right moment like "OH FUCK!" and then sprint back to his side of the stage.
As some of you have probably read in interviews in magazines lately, Trent Reznor has recently admitted to having recovered from alcholism. I never would have guessed. All this time, I thought he was just being a perfectionist who was taking forever to put out a new album. In any event, it was great to see him back in action and still rocking and looking like a Rock God, and sweet relief to know that he didn't pull a Jim Morrison on us (getting fat, pathetic, and dying).
Also, today is his birthday! His 40th! That's right folks, everybody's favorite dark prince of rock has hit the big FOUR-ZERO!
Damn, I hope I can look this slick when I hit 40;
