Well my throat is still feeling raw from last night. I was at the Palladium in Worcester for Skatefest. I saw The Early November, and was much impressed.
However, the reason why I went was so that I could get myself a seat down front, and get served with the triple-decker-hardcore-knuckle-sandwhich that included:
The Hope Conspiracy
Throwdown
and.....
Norma Jean
all in a row.....
The Hope Conspiracy was a last minute add on to the bill. Not many people seemed into them which bummed me out a bit. However, it allowed me to make my way up to the front to sing along to the last song called "For Love", my all time favorite song by them. I think I might have caught the singer off guard a little. Before I got up frontt and center there were very few poeple up there. Then there I am, screaming my lungs out to the song so loud I could actually hear myself over the music. The singer looked down for a second in a kind of "where the hell did this screaming lunatic come from?" kind of way. Sorry about that Kevin. He's a cool guy though. I met him after the first time I saw his band with Boysetsfire a while back.
Throwdown put on a good set, and did a cover of Sepultura's "Roots Bloody Roots". Then came the spastic, chaotic, ADHD-riddled soundtrack to a brutal murder that is Norma Jean. They opened with "Shotgun Message" and the place went apeshit.
A thought ocurred to me a whlie ago, and I was talking with schoolgirl about this one time. My voice sounds a lot like my Dad's voice, especially over the phone. Many people who call looking for my Dad and end up getting me instead and mistake me for him. Now logcially, if my voice sounds like my Dad's, then surely so would my scream.
However, I've never heard a decent recording of my screaming voice over music as of yet. I have this feeling that if I were to star ta hardcore band with me on vocals, hearing my vocal takes during recording sessions would be a real trip. I mean, can you imagine listening to your voice being played back and instead it sounds like your Dad screaming bloody murder at you over the sound of double-bass drum thrash and thunderous palm-muted guitar chugga chugga?
It would just be too fucking wierd.
