I just talked to my friend AC on AIM. I haven't spoken to him in quite a while. We're gonna get together and jam and hopefully start a band. I am anxious to rock out.

A thought occurred to me a while ago. I love hardcore a whole lot. I love Poison The Well, The Hope Conspiracy, Eighteen Visions, Norma Jean etc. HOWEVER, as much as I love that kind of music, I'm a little hesitant to start a hc band. My problem is the violence at the shows. I don't mind moshing, but this whole arm-swinging, random punching into the air shit pisses me off.

I wouldn't mind playing a show and watching the pit go nuts, that would be great. But I can't fathom the idea of someone in my audience getting punched by a random fist for no fucking reason.

To me the whole "arm swinging" shit that happens at hardcore shows, is just a bunch of chickenshit cowards who are too afraid to start an actual fight. They want the "thrill" of hitting someone in the face, but they don't want to have to answer for it. They get their "fix" of violence and "escape" from responsibility. Fuckin' losers. mad

Man, I thought the new school metal scence was ripe with violence; there are definitely more violent knuckleheads in the hardcore scene.

So if I start a band with AC, the sound would be more along the lines of really heavy alternative or something like that. Furthermore: no arm swinging fuckheads in the audience. smile Sure it wouldn't be quite as heavy as I'd like it to be; but I'd at least be comfortable and that's what's most important.
I'm ready to rock.

p.s. Another thing, I wouldn't have to worry about not being "dressed hardcore". Sorry folks, I like my baggy pants, and I ain't wearing tight ass jeans or getting nautical star tattoos just b/c its the "uniform". I like not looking like everyone else in the scene. ARRR!!! I can imagine it wouldn't be much fun looking out and seeing a whole audience dressed the same. Being extra different in crowd of "different" people who all look the damn same is fun biggrin

true, at the few shows i played at, there was ONE guy dancin' around like a re-re(citing clerks animated series) swinging his ape fists everyehre. being hardcore is one thing, being the only guy flailing while everyone else is paying attention to the band is another.

"uniform" to the letter, i went to go see the locust and there were two guys dressed almost exactly the same. same hair, same color trucker caps, baby gap sized t-shirts. i only wished the bad was going to be sick enough to vomit on stage. they were trying real hard to.

ps. my band, ded kat. not hXc. not anything. definately not serious.
