Another year beckons and as it begins I find myself thinking:
I have a lot to be grateful for.
Somewhere beautiful to live both in England and in Senegal.
A partner who loves me after a quarter of a century of putting up with my shit.
3 Children who I can still talk to and hang out with after 22 years of parenting.
A job I love to do.
I have my health.
I have some really amazing friends.
This year I want to try to remember this more...to actually feel Gratitude daily rather than focus on what I don't have. I want to bring back a regular practice into my day other than drumming...say Tai Chi or Meditation.
I want to make peace with my own inner anxieties and to accept that there are fears in my life and just move along with it all. Try not to dwell on the problems.
So my first Blog of this year is written with Gratitude in mind...for all the things I have and for all the things others bring into my life. And with SG I am grateful for beauty, for humour, for friendship, for incredible photography, for football chat, for discussion and for all things Silly.
In the words of Henry Ward Beecher
"Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul"
May 2008 be a fullfilling, rewarding and joyful one for you.
EDIT: Jan 4th 2008

can't imagine trying to learn Tai Chi from a book or a video i did karate for a while, back in the mists of time, and i know how important a good teacher is for that sort of thing. part of me misses doing that sometimes, but i think i'm more suited to something a bit more gentle these days
