Wow...just about recovered from the most fantastic weekend of drum and dance....I am part of a team that delivers a festival of African Music once a year here in Yorkshire, England. This year was our 3rd year and the best yet. From friday evening 100 or so Groovers descend on a site in the woods to drum, dance and sing their ways through the weekend...lots of amazing Artists on show and fantastic workshops to participate in...Big Log fires at night under the stars and acoustic music from guitar to Mbira...We had music from Guinea, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Morocco and more....totally exhilarating...no sleep really for two days and for me then chance to perform with real world class artists...it was just JOYOUS for 3 days.....knackered now but happy.
New pictures will be up on the site soon but for past pictures and an idea of what the fessie is all about check out Rhythm and Grooves

i read the start of that page you linked... i'll probably collapse under the weight of my own paranoia if i read too much in one go! this kind of thing is so depressing and infuriating and scary.
that festival does look like a great time. i like drumming, even if it's only on the edge of a desk or something. that's usually as far as i go, because i don't actually have any drums... a friend once went to the gambia and brought back a big drum; i had a go and i loved it
