It has been a week since the lay-offs and I have been isolating; in part because I have started a new job and in part because I am just melancholy.
The lay-offs took a lot out of me. It wiped me out. Emotionally I am all spent. But as the dust settled there was more too this than met the eye, there was a lot of shady undercurrent and a whole lot of weaseling around. I don't feel very good about it anymore, which is a shame because before I felt like the best interests of the company were really what motivated things but now I think that there were some really dicey ulterior motives. Also there are some people that got promoted to positions that aren't my more or less competent than the people that they replaced.
In other news, and this is the exciting stuff, I got accepted to the boat building school I applied to so it looks like I will be moving to Maine over the summer, which is fantastic because the people in my town know are starting to wear on me a bit.
Also I started a new job working for a sports club. So yea that. I hope the melancholy passes soon, it would be nice to feel somewhat normal again.
