It's a little after midnight and I am sitting in my apartment listening to every album I owned in 1994, which was a seminal year for me. So far I have listened to:
A Tribe Called Quest, Tori Amos, Flaming Lips, Belly, Throwing Muses, Jimmy Buffet, Too Short, The Clash, Pearl Jam (10), Nirvana, Concrete Blonde, and a smattering of others, but I think you get the point.
Here is what I am learning:
I still love Jimmy Buffet but it was definitely a phase;
Tori Amos reminds me of my ex-girlfriends in a bad way;
Belly reminds me of them in a good way;
Tribe reminds me of my room-mate;
Flaming Lips reminds me of going to shows, rock out and soaking shirts with sweat and beer in clubs that smelled like peanut shells, stale beer and urine.
Throwing Muses reminds me of the first boss I ever got recruited by.
