Just another drunken Wednesday.
After a long Korean dinner and hefty amounts of soju in my old university district and some old friends and some new ones, we ventured through the cold to a new lounge bar on land that six years ago was farmland. Step into the cabbage patch and get two for one martinis. The conversation stepped knee-deep in alcohol, white people filled the place, conversation dipped into movies. I got into a long debate with recent introduction about what makes a good film. Why wasn't 2046 good? His argument: lacked some undefined constistency of theme plot or whatever. My argument: you use that as a rule and you get a crap, and art needs room to make mistakes. End of it all, I think I won day. Helps when you can old your liquor. javascript:insertSmilie('');
A liberating thing, because this kind of conversation a few years ago would have crushed me. Think in these past few years, I've come to be more at ease with myself, with what I like. Hopefully take a few more of the sticks and stones.
