Work is honestly driving me insane. The combination of a film industry that works four times faster and less orginaized than Hollywood and a huge language barrier is really getting to me. To the point where the emotions are beginning to crack thru and show in the workplace.
The past two days were spent dubbing Mandarin dialogue over the Cantonese dialogue. They moved quickly, giving usually only one chance for one line reading, whether the emotion was right or not, befure moving on to the next. During the dinner break, the dialogue editor reminisced about the days of money, when the diretor held court over a whole crowd of mandarin dialogue artists, and whole afternoons were spent perfecting one scene. For this movie, the director has showed in the editing room all of once.
Nevertheless... from my bus stop home is a walk down a small road, no lined with festival banners flicking over strings of candy colored lights. Some holiday I'll never know is approaching. To the left and the right are the shouting stray dogs.

I can only imagine how frustrating that must be. I've dealt with working with someone who didn't know how to articulate what it was they wanted and ended up pretty confused, let alone having a language barrier.
