So we meet again....
I hope everybody else had as good a St Patty's Day as I did! I had the first annual "Potato Appreciation Day Potato Potlucky aka Iron Chef Ireland: Battle Potatoe" dance party in honor of the day potato slavery ended! We got the first noise complaint i've gotten since i moved here 5 and a half years ago. Had a dance off. Named my friends guts. Ate about 10 different kinds of potatoes. ...and one person pissed his pants.
All in all it was an extremely succesful night! Also i think i should be a theme party planner. Not to sound cocky or anything, but it was pretty much the best!
So i say every time i actually take the time to post a new blog, that I promise i'll start making it a more regular habit, and everytime.... i fail. I'm sorry!! But this time I have a reasonably valid excuse! On December 23rd the girl who lived in the apartment above me turned her stove on, put her 3 year old son to bed.... then went to sleep. did i mention she turned her stove on first? ..... Well she did. So my boyfriend and I get home from work at 3:30 in the morning and change in to some comfy clothes and sit down in the couch to turn the tv on. Now i'm used to hearing that kid crying, the girl having screaming fights with her loser boyfriend (or whatever he is to her), stomping competitions, and general loud noises from upstairs; but this crackling sound was different. a few seconds later the fire alarm for the whole building starts going off. I grabbed my pet lizard and put him in my shirt to keep him warm and woke up my roommate and got outside pretty quickly. *thanks school fire drills!* Well the fire department showed up on time to get the mother and son out safely through the forth floor window and put out the fire before it spread. good job guys! BUT all the water used to put out the fire upstairs leaked through to our apartment and we were flooded. Our ceilings, some walls, and our carpets were pulled out first thing in the morning, and very... very slowly over the next few months out apartment began to look a little like it did up until 3:30am December 24th, 2008. To this day there are still some things that need finishing! I could go on about all the bullshit we went through with contrators and the moronic Minto landlord, Whit, who made everything drag out as long as it possibly could while three of us lived out of one bedroom and most of a kitchen that were almost always in tact throughout all that hell. BUT i've probably bored you enough!
In other news.....
Rockalily, the burlesque troup i'm a part of, had our second big headlining show a week or so ago, and sold the place out again!!! It was a great time! Two of my best girlfriendsjoined me for a song, which was so much fun! My signature hula hoop routine was cut a little short when we found out right before doors opened that the master cd (the only one containing my hula hoop song) had a scratch and skipped right in the middle of my song! Believe it or not, one minute and 15 seconds is not much time to take your clothes off while hula hooping and make it look good! *note to self: bring my own back up copy for my solo acts next time*
I just realised that I never finished uploading pictures from the last show! I promise i'll get around to it very soon! maybe even today! and add pictures from a few more shows that we've done since!
here's one new one from a party that three of us performed at...
