I think you're right. Probably the main reason I hate stuff like this is because I can't chump out. Not conveniently, at least.
The last wedding I was at had an open bar, which isn't a smart idea with my mom's side of the family. Before that, I was at one that had a cash bar, and they were making weak drinks. Not realizing this, I ordered a white russian. As you can probably imagine, a weak white russian = lots of cream, little vodka. Not good!
