I don't know if I have said it before, but I love this SG community and all of you who take the time to "support". Thanks.
I am off to Haarlem to do some real world work with my friend Jason, but I promise to put up the pictures from the World Press Photo Exhibition tomorrow. It is really a shame that the show goes almost everywhere in the world but the US, and an American photographer not only won this year, but there were more American photographers than any other nation in the show.
I was humbled from the second I walked through the door. It was in the old church in the center of the city ::in the middle of the red light district::
I have been there dozens of times, but I realized today that the floor of the church is made of the gravestones of the Dutch royal family, and important Amsterdammers from over the last few hundred years, some so worn, there is little remaining.
As you walk through the door the first image you see looks like a young girl having an orgasm through a bus window...smiling and naked...she is actually dying from poison gas in Moscow (do you remember the hostage crisis 800 hostages were being held by 50 Chechen separatists in a theatre? - 117 hostages died from the gas attack)
I think the images are important to see, so I won't go on too much - I will just post them and we can take it from there...
In the meantime - have a good Saturday...
