More Eastern European madness...tomorrow is the big bank day - thank god it is in the afternoon...
;-)
This city is filled with juxtapositions that will never be rectified.
Amsterdamned!
Queen's Day madness is finally settling down, the city is trashed, and the cleanup crews are out dealing with the aftermath of millions in the streets drinking themselves into a stupor in what now looks like a war zone of orange plastic, broken glass, and various debris left from the day long garage sale of the city. Yes - the entire city was one giant, drunken garage sale - everyone takes all of their junk into the street and sells it - some setting up elaborate displays, and some just piling up old stuff on a corner.
Vondel park is taken over by the children, and they are singing, dancing, and setting up weird games of chance for the adults to gamble - some also setting up little shops with their old toys - gladly bartering with other children for their toys on sale.
I met so many amazing people - it was a great party. We danced, and danced, and drank and enjoyed a few hours of sunshine on a boat of beautiful people - hit a half dozen clubs and generally had a glorious bender.
Everyone was closed down today, so tomorrow - it's back to dreadful work to be done here, but somehow I feel a little bit better about it - perhaps my pounding head will feel differently after some much needed sleep.
