is voting an act of political freedom or political conformity
There is a hallucinatory quality to my life these days that just doesn't
seem to go away... I speak with friends about voting tomorrow, and the
political...the hyper-critical...the first ones up in arms, say... Well I
don't dare repeat what they have said because it is too sad, embarrassing.
I am trying not to take these things personally, that I may have failed in
some way being unable to motivate even these to get off of their apathetic
asses and participate... that my discourse has been a futile exercise in
trying to convince unconscious fools that our negligence will cost us one
day soon... please tell me if this is the price of reality?

Yeah... OK. long time no post.
Funny that Nicholas' class @ UCLA that I had the opportunity to speak at
last week was focused on Integrity in Entertainment, exploring whether one
is able to be a successful producer in the Entertainment industry, without
having to compromise some sense of core value and ethics. Preparing for it
provoked a lot of emotion... I have been so generous to so many people in
the last few years, and the majority of them are... well... fucked. That's
not me being my usual hyper-critical self, they really are completely
horrible, and one of my weaknesses is always trying to help, even to my own
detriment. Hmmm..... Yes, true.
I always laugh about the fortunes we make and lose, and really am serious
about the tens of thousands of dollars blown on insanity... I don't think
money is even a factor in assessing these situations, although it expresses
them so clearly, it takes an amazing amount of post-rationalization to
explain the situations away without wanting to scream, WTF.
I did manage to get my camera back today (It has been at the editor's since
we shot that KORN show...weeks ago, because my equipment is PAL so they
needed it to encode the footage) so I can get back to my picture posts...
finally. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I found myself framing
everything around me and writing down image ideas, and realizing I have no
means to make them... just weird. I usually don't find the time to make
those ideas anyways, but there is always the ability to do it if I really
feel the need.
That's all the bitching for this evening, I am going to have a little bit of
fun and put the rants back private, where they belong right now. I posted a
little picture of the construction at DGs, we are packing the entire house
right now so they can install hardwood floors, and there is no kitchen...
;-)
Umm... Yeah, *ouch.

I sat in on my old buddy Nicholas de Wolff's UCLA class this evening,
Producing Entertainment in the Digital Age. It was a bit of discussion about
the creative promise of New Media - tools, channels, and platforms. It was a
very strange experience for me, and I realized it really is impossible for
me to just sit somewhere, be quiet and behave... It is simply not possible.
I am going to speak next week about integrity in the entertainment industry,
which Nicholas was laughingly comparing to military intelligence. It was a
good time, and I am excited about next week - it should be a lively
discussion. I plan to spend quite a bit of time discussing Data Mining and
the laissez-faire approach to privacy Americans have had which should be an
interesting discussion with an all foreign class. I have some great stories
to share with them... I am posting privately, but perhaps I will share a few
of them here...god, there are so many NDA's I have to consider when I am
writing a damn journal, isn't that kind of strange?
Worked at The Mine for a bit, Worked at ESE for a bit, created a journal for
uptheanesthetic, created a few pages for The Mine's new website.
Wu-Tang promo card for Salzy tomorrow. Housework, Housework, Housework.
Casey, Scumbag, SeanE, TheMine, Compromise, PhonePhone, too much pressure,
gas, DGs house.

22 questions. again...
Many of the answers are the same as last time, I guess they will be fairly consistent.
1: Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4.
Write down what it says:
experience, the human disease. Same book as last time.
2: Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?:
An empty glass, bone dry.
3: What is the last thing you watched on TV?:
The food network, I think I keep it on hoping to learn some new tricks in the background...
4: WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what the time is:
11:00, time for Iron Chef.
5: Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?:
10:25
6: With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?:
the whirring of hard drives and fans, DG snoring, her kid snoring louder, some anthropologist babbling (what channel is that anyways, I wanted to watch the Iron Chefs)
7: When did you last step outside?
This afternoon, to drive to the airport.
8: Before you came to this website, what did you look at?:
My ears... Like they say at beyond_gauged "stretched out like a hooker in vegas"
9: what are you wearing?:
the same as I wear everyday, seriously. A Pirate shirt, black pants from Bangkok, cant seem to find my shoes, mismatched socks, mutilated underwear.
10: Did you dream last night?:
I didn't really sleep to speak of, too much pain.
11: When did you last laugh?:
I am always laughing at the absurdity of life.
12: What is on the walls of the room you are in?:
Dean Karr photo of children covered in blood, Walker Evans poster, some abstract drawings in two colours of crayon.
13: Seen anything weird lately?:
all day, every day.
14: DELETED FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.
15: What is the last film you saw?:
City Of God
16: If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy first?:
I still would buy a house for my mother.
I think that is what everyone should do, even if she already has one.
17: Tell me something about you that I don't know:
I like Black Hair & Bangs.
18: If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?:
Still way too loaded.
19: Do you like to dance?:
anytime. and smash things, and lose my mind in the music.
20: George Bush: is he a power-crazy nut case or some one who is finally doing something that has needed to be done for years?:
I would like to see you make some of the decisions he has to make. fucked either way, I would be willing to bet. The other guy sucks too. Is that the best we can come up with, those two?
21(a): Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?:
the love of my life
21(b): Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?:
the love of my life
22: Would you ever consider living abroad?:
I am ready to go right now. Anywhere.

otaku no jinsei ha yabai na!
Seriously...
I need to get out. (The Otaku life sucks)
I did figure out some really neat CSS/DHTML tricks today, but they don't
seem to work with all the browsers, especially old AOL browsers, which, for
some reason is what my "target market" seems to be. WHY am I writing code
when I really don't like it - I can't remember, but perhaps I will have a little fun.
DG is leaving for Boston tonight, so I hope to have time to work out some of
the bugs in my code AND go to a few shows... you know get my hipster on
and all of that.
