Bush is no doubt a dumbass so wishing that he should have not gone to war or atleast thought out the after-war plan better is asking for too much. Of course, I don't know the exact details of what was planned but I do know it was dumb-dumb-dumb and it wasn't that well planned out. It only consisted of making money.....and thinking everyone would be happy!
psh...since when has the middle east ever been happy with the US?
so I've been thinking......what Bush should have done outside of the military and signing of corporate contractors................to ease some unrest in IRAQ.
The first thought that came to my mind was the Romans and how the Roman empire gave the people the Gladiators to chill out their discontentment.
As part of the great festivals, public spectacles were provided by the emperor and other state officials. It seems the gladiatorial games, most popular and famous of the spectacles, served a purpose beyond just entertainment. All of Rome would be in attendance, from senators and priests, citizens of wealth and standing, to the general public. It is said that the contests encouraged a disregard for pain and death, for even slaves and criminals displayed a passion and need for praise and victory in the arena. But, the gladiatorial games seemed to involve both a political and social purpose. For one, the games served as a diversion from any political worry of the time, and second, they seemed to be necessary to satisfy frolic needs of the common people. The Romans were a society investing its time and money in this sport, giving the notion that it was a priority.
In that aspect...the USA should have distributed a fair amount of money in a sport that would have taken away some of the attention from the hardships in their current afterwar life. they should have put money into the Iraqi soccer league and pretty much reconstruct it into a sport that will be labeled as Iraq's favorite past time in years to come. the british had it somewhat right when the british solidiers would play soccer with the iraqi people in the city they had just took over....they should have just took an extra step forward and make that sport a bigger focus in Iraq.
yea, that would be a perfect target for suicide bombers to attack....but hey, so is the market.
Anyways, there's what....4 million people in iraq...I'm sure they can muster enough talent to woo the village people in....esp. since they already like soccer . There is also a nice economic factor in these leagues since new jobs would have been created, new vendors and services would be made, and staple foods would become commercialized more..
I'm thinking that for each arena built......the us government could have select a few of these small vendors....selecting those whose "food" are so "food network" good.....and just put money into the global distribution of that product.....as well as building the buildings and constructing the machines needed to welcome more job oppurtunities for the Iraqis.
These are the little things I think the bush adminstration should have done.......since he was going to go to war anyways. As for the bombings and border infintrations....that's something you really can't stop and I really have no idea how to stop them except snipe to snipe them.
......even if this war is crap, we can't leave it half-assed like the vietnam war since we did start it. I know way too many vietnamese who fought with the US during and had to suffer as losers because there was no one backing them up. anyways......saying no more.
