Bleak Decision


Now all is quiet on the battlefield,
The firing of weapons cease,
A dreadful stillness,
War torn bodies motionless
Over the vast horizon,
For now the killing has ended
For the weary survivors,
A glimpse of peace fills the warriors mind,
The thought of returning home in quick periods,
Smiles and sullen hearts,
Barren stares unbroken through the short,
But not so distant occurrence.

Whistling, shouts, and joy
Applauding the final decision.

The battle is over,
Heard from miles around.

Happiness for the moment,
Screaming seems to never end,
Knowing when the survivors of today,
Are to be chosen once more,
For the threat of war will never end.
